Spell Jars & Witch Bottles – 3 Recipes to Manifest your Desires

Last updated: December 26, 2024

Spell jars or witch bottles are a super affordable and easy way to manifest a certain intention or desire when performing a spell or ritual. You can use any kind of recycled jars, mason jars or little vials and fill them with herbs, crystals, salt and other goodies that Mother Nature provides to us. Align the items that you fill your jar with, with the intention that you want to manifest and watch the magick unfold.

How to make your own Spell Jars?

Like I mentioned before, the procedure for creating a Spell Jar or Witch Bottle is very easy and affordable. You will find 3 recipes for the most common uses below but feel free to experiment with your own compositions to create something that is truly yours. Most things can be found in any household or spice rack. If you can, opt for fresh herbs or those that you have dried at home. Spend some time collecting your ingredients, while at the same time thinking about the things you want to manifest.

Spell Jars Witches Recipes

If you take anything from Mother Nature directly (rose petals, pine needles, etc) make sure you ask Nature for her blessing and thank the plant/tree or space where you’ve taken the object from. If using crystals within your spell jar, cleanse them first under running water and if they are too big to fit into the jar, just make sure to have them nearby during your ritual. Before you start, take a moment to cleanse your space with some smoke or moon water, or by simply sweeping it with your Witches Broom. Then get really cozy! Think pillow on the floor, candlelight, some nice music…

You can light a candle whose colour resonates with the kind of spell you want to do and use the wax of that candle to seal your jar and bind the spell at the end of the ritual.

Gather all your ingredients around and get into a good mindset for your spell. A short meditation or mantra chant can do magick in this instance. When placing your objects into the jar, carefully consider them one by one while thinking about the intention and desire that you wish to manifest and how they can help with that. Make sure to include your intention in words or in form of a sigil into the jar on a small piece of paper.

To finish off the ritual you can seal the jar with candle wax as mentioned or simply close it tightly. Then hold the jar in your hands, take deep breaths and visualize the outcome that the spell in the jar should bring you. End with asking the deities that your work with for their blessing.

Write down the ingredients to your spell jars in your Grimoire or Book of Shadows. This helps you keep track of them and measure how effective the spell was, when you’re looking to repeat the process.

Where to keep your spell jars after the ritual?

The answer to this question depends a little on the intention of the jar. A protection spell for the home is best placed in – you guessed it – your home, near the front door to ward off unwanted intruders. Meanwhile a love or self-love charm should be near you or near a mirror where you pass several times per day, to be a constant reminder. You can even make small protection spell bottles that the wearer can hang around their neck. Leave the jars in place for as long as you like or until the desire has manifested. Sometimes you will see the objects inside slowly fade and die. Then it could be a good idea to make a fresh spell jar.
